The Vacuum Gauge reads from 0 to 30" of Hg vacuum. It is used to monitor the vacuum obtained when vacuum bagging.
The Vacuum Gauge has threaded 1/8" NPT. It can be reduced for usage with the Neoprene Tubing by using a Pipe to Hose Fitting and separately purchased 1/8" threaded pipe.
- Tip #09-13: Connect a vacuum gauge directly to a bag to monitor the vacuum inside the bag.
When performing a wet layup, if the vacuum bagging system is not equipped with a vacuum gauge to monitor the vacuum, you can install one directly to the assembled bag. This can be done by installing a second vacuum connector for the vacuum gauge to connect to. On the opposite side of the first vacuum connector, install a high temperature vacuum bag connector. To connect the gauge to the high temperature vacuum connector you will need a ¼” NPT to 1/8” NPT female reducer.
As with the first vacuum connector, it is not placed directly on top of you part. This can cause a dent in the part and may suck up additional resin/material.
