Shrink Tape
Details
Shrink tape is a tough, flexible, heat shrinkable polyester tape. When wrapped around an object and heated, shrink tape has the unique ability to shrink and apply pressure to the underlying part. The compression force characteristics of shrink tape make it an effective tool for compacting, debulking and shaping composite parts. In addition, the shrink tape is commonly used to compress and consolidate high voltage coils during the manufacturing process.
The different options offer unique properties which lend themselves useful in various applications. The release coated tape offers a non-silicon PTFE release coating on one side that enables the shrink tape to release from the cured composite part. The added perforations allow controlled removal of excess resin while enhancing the tapes ability for outgassing of volatiles and water vapor during cure. Using the non-perforated tape will deliver a high gloss, resin rich surface.
