PET Film - Mylar®

Mylar® is a DuPont® developed and manufactured high performance, multi-use polyester (PET) film. It is commonly used to provide a smooth glossy finish on the surface of the laminate when vacuum bagging. It is not coated with a release agent and therefore should be waxed with mold release wax prior to use to prevent bonding with resins. Mylar® lays flat and, due to its thickness, bends in only one direction and does not conform to complex curves.

Mylar® offers balanced tensile properties and excellent resistance to moisture and most chemicals. It is electrically insulating and can withstand temperature extremes from -100℉ to 300℉. It does not become brittle with age and is tear resistant.
